Around 25,000 homes in Queensland's southeast woke up without power on Monday morning after severe thunderstorms passed over the region, producing powerful gusts topping over 100 km/h.

Residents observed large ice chunks measuring up to 7cm in some areas. Weather authorities confirmed that multiple regions across Queensland had been affected by substantial ice precipitation.

Emergency response teams handled nearly 600 requests for assistance across the area, primarily for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and flooding.

At one point on Sunday, in excess of 28,000 electricity consumers in Victoria were experiencing outages.

Damp conditions were expected to linger along large portions of Queensland's east this week as a atmospheric system continued to draw in moisture against the coast.
Tomorrow was forecast to be the heaviest precipitation period, with persistent thunderstorm potential anticipated across multiple regions of both regions.
Safety Concern
Medical authorities cautioned that there was an greater possibility of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the state's northern country region, particularly given the ongoing climate situation.
